The story goes that one night, after a fight with his girlfriend, he flew back to Hong Kong on what would have been the couple's first holiday together. His girlfriend then went to meet her ex-boyfriend and they decided to drive home in his car. Unfortunately, they crashed into a wall and both died. Jackie has revealed how he felt guilty at first but later realised it wasn’t his fault. He said: I was blaming myself but my manager told me it wasn't my fault.

However, by changing his drink from beer (he was also smoking heavily at the time) to tea, he managed to produce much better sound quality on screen.
